Controlled Environments

Designing And Constructing Controlled Environments

A Controlled environment is an enclosure, such as a room, in which measures are taken to provide an environment that meets certain requirements, such as maintaining a specific level of temperature and/or humidity, guarding against static electricity or electromagnetic radiation, and isolating from dust or cross contamination. Builders plus is dedicated to providing industry-leading specialty in design and development for all types of controlled environments. Our combined experience and expertise helps provide services focused on performance, safety, quality, schedule and cost. We have developed environments from the basic to complex and highly technical labs for the food processing, industrial manufacturing, medical, and pharmaceutical fields. We also have designed and built some of the most demanding types of projects. We are up to date on the newest technology in environment and clean room industries. We recognize your needs whether in a new space or in an existing occupied space. We are exceptional at isolating construction and maintaining an existing environment with our proven dust control techniques.

Sometimes, downtime is not an option. We can complete projects within a seemingly impossible time frame. We can renovate an existing room with new materials or design and construct a new room.We are able to work within the natural progression of a job or adapt to changes. We can easily and productively change the flow of a project at any time when we encounter unknown conditions. Builders Plus knows controlled environments, and we know what it takes to build them successfully. Our approach to design and construction unifies separate critical components into an interconnected system that guarantees the targeted integrity of the controlled space. We have extensive experience in designing and constructing many types of Clean Room environments. We have many clients that we have been constructing and maintaining clean rooms for over 35 years. They depend on us to keep their facilities up to date within the continuous evolving industry.

We can design an environment specific to your needs and assure your room will maintain the highest international standards.

Builders Plus has developed a team of distinguished designers. We know how to establish a basic layout of logical flow from receiving of raw materials, to critical room criteria for manufacturing, and shipping of finished products. We also have a proven team of chemists/biochemists; biologists, physicists chemists/biochemists; geochemists; geologists/hydrogeologists; hydrologists; biologists; environmental scientists; air and waste contaminant transport modelers; mathematicians; physicists; consultants and professionals to assist If needed. We specialize in the installation of commercial water processing/filtration systems in the fields of food manufacturing, pharmaceutical, aerospace, medical, and for laboratory applications. These Systems Include Water Softeners, Reverse Osmosis Systems, Filters, Deionizers, Pumps, Recirculating Systems, UV Systems, and High Purity Piping with Zero Static Valves

A cleanroom is a controlled environment where products are manufactured, tested, or maintained. It is a room in which the concentration of airborne particles along with other elements is controlled to specified limits. Eliminating sub-micron airborne contamination is really a process of control. These contaminants are generated by people, processes, facilities and equipment. They must be continually removed from the air. The level to which these particles need to be removed depends upon the standards required. The most frequently used standard is the Federal Standard 209E. The 209E is a document that establishes standard classes of air cleanliness for airborne particulate levels in cleanrooms and clean zones. Strict rules and procedures are followed to prevent contamination of the product, cross contamination, or in some cases, limit the pollution release into the outside environment.

The only way to control contamination is to control the total environment. Air flow rates and direction, pressurization, temperature, humidity and specialized filtration all need to be tightly controlled. And the sources of these particles need to controlled or eliminated whenever possible. There is more to a clean room than air filters. Cleanrooms are planned and manufactured using strict protocol and methods. They are frequently found in electronics, pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, medical device industries and other critical manufacturing environments. It only takes a quick monitor of the air in a cleanroom compared to a typical office building to see the difference. Typical office building air contains from 500,000 to 1,000,000 particles (0.5 microns or larger) per cubic foot of air. A Class 100 cleanroom is designed to never allow more than 100 particles (0.5 microns or larger) per cubic foot of air. Class 1000 and Class 10,000 cleanrooms are designed to limit particles to 1000 and 10,000 respectively.

A human hair is about 75-100 microns in diameter. A particle 200 times smaller (0.5 micron) than the human hair can cause major disaster in a cleanroom. Contamination can lead to expensive downtime and increased production costs. In fact, the billion dollar NASA Hubble Space Telescope was damaged and did not perform as designed because of a particle smaller than 0.5 microns.Once a cleanroom is built it must be maintained and cleaned to the same high standards.
